I literally had no idea I would actually have views! Here are somethings that helped rack up the views.
Honestly, I thought that my YouTube experience was going to flop right away. No views, no subscribers and I’d be scratching my head saying “How does this even work? Or does it actually?” The answer to that question is yes, you just need to use your prior knowledge of social media platforms particulary Tik Tok to help you get going.
Using Shorts is a MUST
Shorts make up a ton of my views and subscribers. It’s also honestly one of the best ways to dip your toes into becoming a Youtube creator and seeing if you like it. If you’re good at Tik Tok you’ll most likely be equally as great on YouTube Shorts.
Some takeaways I learned from Shorts So Far:
- Use some of the trending sounds or even trends going on but tailor it to you
- Pick a specific niche – if you don’t, your subscribers will get confused and you will steer away potential news ones.
- Consistency is key but so is quality – If you make a ton of YouTube videos but they aren’t good quality whether it be physically or what you’re talking about, most likely will be unsuccessful. You should make as much content as you want or can but make sure its not low quality because if it is you probably wasted your time.
- You have to draw in attention just like Tik Tok & Instagram Reels– If you know how to capture an audiences attention on Tik Tok or Instagram Reels, I think you’ll be able to do this well on Shorts as well!
- Long videos can benefit from shorts – If you make a shorts video that is related to a long video you uploaded make sure you tag your long video in it. Yes, you have the ability to put your long video in the caption of the short. Take advantage of it.
Big things learned from long videos:
1. Don’t make it too long, cut out the filler. I am terrible with saying “umm” too much while I am thinking so going back to edit out all of those can truly be a pain.
2. Make the video straight to the point. Try not to include too much because we have low attention spans and it might deter the audience from watching more of your content.
My Takeaways
Again treat your YouTube channel like the rest of your social media and have a game plan. I am still along for the journey as today marks day 29 of having my channel. The harder you work the better outcomes you’ll have.
